How many kilos of honey per hive? We can refer to a rule that is known in the world of beekeeping as Farrar's rule. Let's see what it is about ...

C.L Farrar wrote the work The evaluation of bees for pollination, in 1931. In this work he describes what is currently known as Farrar's rule.

This rule goes on to say that as the number of bees in a hive increases, then the larger the amount of honey produced proportionally by each bee.

This is given because increasing the amount of bees in a hive increases more than proportionately the amount of bees pecoreadoras.

There is a table or table that relates the total number of worker bees with the number of bees beetles, increasing as we can see the percentage of bees bees.

We have prepared this table with Excel for illustrative purposes in order to understand this Farrar rule in number:

Through this table, we can also draw our own calculation formulas, since knowing the total number of bees in a hive (every 10,000 bees weighing 1 kg) we can know the total Kg of honey produced.

Let's look at the table, and take the “Kg of total bees weight” box. We will multiply this number by itself (we will square it).

So, if we have the total population of bees weighing 1 Kg we will have 1x1 = 1 Kg of honey.

If we have the total population of bees weighs 2 kg, we have 2x2 = 4 kg of honey.

If we have the total population of bees weighing 3 kg, we have 3x3 = 9 kg of honey.

If we have the total population of bees weighing 4 kg, we have 4x4 = 16 kg of honey.

If we have the total population of bees weighing 5 kg, we have 5x5 = 25 kg of honey.

If we have the total population of bees weighing 6 kg, we have 6x6 = 36 kg of honey.

We hope you found this article useful.

Soon we will publish other articles related to the theme of honey.
