In this video we are going to see the BEFORE and AFTER the installation of 2 anti-level hive protection modules in an apiary attacked by vespa velutina in Valadouro (LUGO, Spain).
In the video we can see how the hives that were previously blocked by the attack of the Asian wasp regain their natural fluidity just 40 minutes after the installation of the 2 anti-velutin hive protection modules.
It is important to note that with only 3 or 4 velutins lurking outside the hive are enough to block the hive (the bees go into defensive mode huddled together at the entrance of the piquera). When the bees are in defensive mode, they stop foraging as would be natural at this time of year (only a few bees come out to forage, always by the same entry and exit route, which favors the velutina to hunt more easily ).
With the antivelutin protective module we are able to regain the natural fluidity of the hive and that the bees return to foraging, entering and exiting the protective module through multiple entrances and exits, which will make it extremely difficult for the velutina to hunt (there are multiple entry and exit routes of the bees thanks to the external multiple trap and the calibration of the internal filter of the protective module).
It is worth noting the sonic effect of the resonance box that we achieve by installing the hive protector module, since the bees in the hive will see their sound amplified and we will ensure that they do not perceive that the velutin is lurking outside, leaving the bee in its blocked state in defensive mode and thus recovering the fluidity of the hive.
