How many types of honey are there? In this blog post we will talk about the different varieties of honey that we can find.

While it is true that many already know many types of honey, we might discover some variety that we did not know.

First, we would like to clarify the conditions for a honey to be considered as monofloral honey. For a honey to be considered as floral mono honey, it must be able to be attributed to a particular flower in particular. This is determined by making a pollen analysis of honey.

We have sorted them in alphabetical order, the last ones on the list being just as important as the first ones on the list. In this post we will only see 4 types of honey (soon we will write more lists, until the total is completed).

Spruce Honey (Myellate): Honey of dark amber color and less sweet than honey that comes from flower pollen. Fir honey is produced from the fir resin that the aphid has previously digested and then expelled (since the aphid's metabolism cannot digest the part that contains the sugars).

From that resin that the aphid has dismissed, the bees make the collection and produce the coveted fir honey. Spruce honey is precisely coveted due to its scarcity, since this process does not involve flowers themselves, but the collaboration of the aphid that previously sucks the fir resin and then deposits the part of the fir on the fir (or trunk) leaves discarded resin rich in sugars.

Being a scarce honey, the prices of fir honey will be higher than that of conventional honey.

Acacia honey: it has a light amber color and is quite fluid.

It comes from the collection made by bees from the nectar of the acacia flower. Acacia honey is considered to have a fairly mild taste.

Avocado Honey: it is a very dark honey and not as sweet as other honey.

It should be said that the flowers of the avocado tree attract bees for their yellowish hue and composition.

Aguaribay honey: The aguaribay is also known as the Pepper Tree (it is also called "False Pepper", since its fruits resemble pepper but are not edible, they are considered toxic).

This tree is found in South America.

Auaribay honey is light amber.

In the next blog post, we will talk about more types of honey that we can find.
